To the east is the nieghbourhood of Mimico and the neighbourhood of Long Branch is to the west.
In 1916, the opening of Canada’s first paved highway known as Lake Shore Road coupled with the supply demands of the first World War would begin a period of unprecedented growth for the community, bringing with it new schools, businesses and expanded public services. New Toronto is now a neighbourhood in transition, as the industrial corridor located at the north end of the community is being redeveloped after having been vacant and fallow for many years. Industry that gradually moved out of New Toronto over the years is now being re-established, in addition to institutional uses.
Style of homes are primarily semi-detached and detached, with new construction housing bringing record sales to the area for its proximity to Lakeshore.
Desirable features of this neighbourhood – the bicycle trail, convenient TTC and Go Transit service, and quick access to downtown Toronto via Lake Shore Boulevard.
