Bounded by Eglinton Ave south to Dundas Street West, the Humber River west to Islington Avenue, this neighbourhood can be further broken down into smaller communities: the triangular quadrant north of Dundas from Islington to Royal York, but south of Reigate is known as Chestnut Hills. The area surrounding Edenbridge, on the west side of Royal York is known as Lincoln Woods. Finally, the northern corner of Islington and Eglinton is sometimes referred to as The Greens of St. George’s, as many houses in this area back onto the beautiful St. George’s Golf and Country Club. Characterized by single-family homes on large lots, mature trees line the shady streets. Some well known streets in this area have become their own sort of little community; Valecrest, North Drive and Chestnut Hills, which are all located in Humber Valley Village.
The two dominant geographical landmarks in Humber Valley Village are St. George’s Golf and Country Club, which stretches across Islington Avenue, and James Gardens. Easy walk to transit, the ‘James Club’ condo named after James Gardens, parks, arena, and Humbertown’s cafes, shops, grocers and restaurants. Schools in this area attract many families, such as public schools (Humber Valley Village Junior Middle School) and private schools (Kingsway College School and Kingsley Primary School).
